Accessibility Policy
Accessibility Standards for Customer Service — ICS Legal Services
At ICS Legal Services (“we”, “us”, “our”), a personal injury law firm serving clients in Ontario, we are committed to providing accessible and inclusive services to all members of the public, including people with disabilities. This Accessibility Policy outlines how we meet our obligations under the Accessibility Standards for Customer Service, Ontario Regulation 429/07, made under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 (AODA).
1. Purpose
This policy ensures that ICS Legal Services provides its legal services, communications, and client-facing interactions in a manner that respects the dignity, independence, integration, and equal opportunity of persons with disabilities, consistent with the principles set out in the AODA.
2. Scope
This policy applies to all services provided by ICS Legal Services to the public or other third parties in Ontario, including legal consultations, client communications, and service delivery — whether delivered in person, by telephone, by email, in writing, or through our website.
3. Providing Goods and Services to Persons with Disabilities
We will make reasonable efforts to ensure that our goods and services are offered in a way that:
- Respects the dignity and independence of people with disabilities;
- Integrates services so that people with disabilities can benefit from them in the same way and in the same place as others, unless alternate measures are necessary; and
- Provides equal opportunity for people with disabilities to access and benefit from our services.
When communicating with a person with a disability, we will do so in a manner that takes the person’s disability into account.
4. Assistive Devices
Persons with disabilities may use their own assistive devices (e.g., wheelchairs, walkers, hearing aids, communication devices) when accessing our services. We will ensure that procedures are in place to support the use of these devices.
5. Service Animals and Support Persons
Persons with disabilities who are accompanied by a service animal or support person will be permitted to access our services with them, unless the law prohibits it. If a service animal is excluded by law, alternative measures will be provided to enable access. Support persons may accompany a person with a disability at no additional cost.
6. Notice of Temporary Disruptions
We will notify the public of any planned or unexpected temporary disruptions in services or facilities normally used by people with disabilities, including the reason for the disruption and its anticipated duration.
7. Training
We provide training on accessible customer service to all employees, contractors, and volunteers who interact with the public or develop policies and procedures on our behalf. This training includes:
- An overview of the purposes of the AODA and the requirements of Ontario Regulation 429/07;
- How to interact and communicate effectively with people with various types of disabilities;
- How to interact with people who use assistive devices, service animals, or require the assistance of a support person; and
- What to do if a person with a disability is having difficulty accessing our services.
Training will be provided as soon as practicable after a person is assigned relevant duties and on an ongoing basis as policies are updated.
8. Feedback and Accessibility Concerns
We encourage feedback on how we deliver services to people with disabilities, including suggestions for improving accessibility. Feedback may be provided:
- In person;
- By telephone: (905) 595-0805;
- By email: icsinfo@icsinjury.com;
- In writing: 49 Kennedy Road South, Unit 7, Brampton, Ontario, L6W 4P4.
We will address feedback promptly and respond in a format that takes the individual’s disability into account.
9. Availability and Format of Documents
